Gardening Questions & Answers

As we have had some really keen and very knowledgeable gardeners visit us here at Jardin de la Maison Rose we’d like to take this a step further and share some of that knowledge with a Gardening Questions & Answer page that we plan to grow.

We’ve had our first Rose question this week, which we’d like to share with you.

Roses can be planted any time of the year but bareroots (young roses) are best planted later autumn early spring. This gives the root systems time to establish themselves before the leaf growth is promoted by the warmer weather. Often bareroots show new shoots early on and need to be covered with plant fleece to protect them from the frost and snow. (Hopefully we won’t see any more of either now)….
If any of your roses get caught by a frost and look a bit worse for wear – if they have not been proctected, do continue to give them your TLC (tender loving care) as often if the graft of the rose is ok there is a very good possibility it will re-shoot.  Roses are pretty hardy plants and your efforts maybe still rewarded by a beautiful display later on in the Summer months.
If you have any gardening tips you’d like to share please send us an email to jardindelamaisonrose@email.com and we’ll post it for you.
